Project Scope & Engineering Execution

RES & Associates provided comprehensive MEP engineering for a new 9,400-square-foot, two-story homeless shelter offering 60 beds, a serving kitchen and dining area, lounges, and administrative offices. A facility that operates around the clock for a vulnerable population has to be engineered for reliability, durability, and low operating cost as much as for code compliance.

Our electrical design covered HVAC power, branch distribution, and both indoor and outdoor lighting — dormitory and lounge lighting tuned for comfort and night-time wayfinding, exterior lighting for site safety, and emergency and egress systems throughout. Mechanical engineering delivered heating, ventilation, and cooling zoned to sleeping, dining, and office areas, while plumbing design served the serving kitchen, restrooms, and shower facilities within the $4.5M project.
